THE LATEST WFB NEWS:
ARTS GRANT TO ATTEND DAVE GRANEY SONGWRITING WEEKEND: I recently received a grant from Moreton Bay Council Regional & Development Fund (RADF) City of Moreton Bay to attend a fabulous songwriting weekend hosted by lovely Ben Sims at the end of April 2025 with rock musician/singer-songwriter and author, Dave Graney . It was a wonderful weekend getting to talk about songwriting with Dave and 5 other songwriters in beautiful Blackwood, Victoria. We were all fortunate to record original songs that we had worked on over the weekend.
THANK YOU - QLD Government & City of Moreton Bay.

Thank you to The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) which is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland for the continuing creating arts grant for me to attend a songwriting workshop in 2024 with Charles Jenkins who is a Melbourne songwriter/musician, producer and performer with more than 30 years experience in the Australian Music Industry. This songwriting retreat was organised via the Blackwood Collaborative in Blackwood, Victoria. I had a fabulous two days in beautiful Blackwood with 5 other participants where we wrote a group song and also an individual song and had the opportunity to also record the songs at the end of the retreat. Such a great weekend and to be able to spend a weekend discussing the art of songwriting in a wonderful location with some very nice people at a songwriting retreat was indeed a Treat.
In August 2024, Brenda facilitated a songwriting workshop on behalf of the Tamworth Songwriters Association (TSA) at the lovely Junk Bar in Ashgrove. The Junk Bar is a small independent venue in a relaxed vintage setting that has played host to many international, interstate and local acts. It was the perfect venue to hold a songwriting workshop sponsored by TSA to bring together local South-East Queensland songwriters to spend time doing various songwriting exercises, network and chat about all aspects of songwriting. The workshop was held from 12:30pm to 3:00pm with time allocated afterwards for an open mic for those who wanted to participate and have the opportunity to perform on the beautiful stage of The Junk Bar. There was a lot of talent in the room with some fantastic songs that were shared within the group. It was so great to spend an afternoon with a diverse range of songwriters but all with the same love of music and belief in the TSA motto “First the Song”.
